Today is a world-wide Wednesday served with the worst aeroplane coffee EVER. This blog will now be known as ‘dishwater in a polystyrene cup.’
Hmm.
Perhaps not.
That’s right; today I have arrived back in the UK from South Carolina. I can’t say it’s been an easy ride.
Not only is my heart aching with a sense of grieving, having had to leave Jonny behind, I have also been gifted with one of nature’s really naff gifts. No, I’m not even talking about my period. That’s far too mainstream.
So much has happened this week that I honestly had to ask myself whether or not I missed a blog the Wednesday prior. Has it only been a week since my last designated babble session?
Either way, today’s babbles may require a translator because I am currently very, very jet lagged and a tad bit disorientated.
Sleeping on the plane did not happen, my friends.
Basic economy is uncomfortable at the best of times, especially when crammed between two strangers for 8 hours, whom of which have rested their sleepy little heads upon your shoulders several times - and that’s before the plane had even taken off!
However, this time was significantly different because what I always dreaded would happen, happened. The day before my flight I felt a familiar twinge and I knew exactly what was happening.
Squeamish folk, skip ahead to the ‘safe zone.’
Less than two years ago, I discovered a lump ‘down there.’ That turned out to be a bartholins cyst. I wouldn’t Google it if I were you, so I’ll just let you know what it is. I had no idea there was such a thing, either.

Essentially, us ladies have glands to keep things lubricated and comfortable at all times, but one of my glands has a habit of becoming randomly blocked. Poor little thing.
However, this means that things can become very swollen, sore, and sometimes infected.
Why am I telling you this?
Taboo topic it may be, but heck, women’s health is important and this is a relatively common issue that has very little research behind it and no official evidence to suggest what causes it or how it can be prevented. All they have confirmed is that it is not linked with sexual transmitted diseases, but may be more of a hormonal disruption.
I have experienced quite severe cases of this issue five times in less than two years, and have usually required constant bedrest, painkillers and antibiotics, but I have had one case where the cyst turned into an abscess which needed to be surgically drained.
That was not one of my best weekends, put it that way.
So, as you can tell, the treatment methods aren’t always ideal, as we all have things to be getting on with in life. Like getting on a plane to fly across the world.
As I was limited for time and in a country where health care doesn’t come cheap, I decided to turn to the internet for some home remedies, and boy, have they been helping.
I am not yet ‘cured’ however, so I will wait and see how things result, and maybe put together my new treatment routine in a nice little blog, dedicated specifically to looking after your lady parts.
I’ve been embarrassed to talk to anyone about my cystic issues, but I really do feel it’s something so serious and important. More of us should be aware of what our bodies are capable of. ‘Cause let’s face it, though great they are, they can really be little bratty brutes sometimes, and you can’t just put them in the naughty corner when they start playing up.
Safe zone.
So, that’s what the last couple of days have looked like, but the overall week has been amazing.
Jonny drove us to Florida, we met more of his wonderful family members, and I got to experience an abomination of love bugs.
Okay, that last one was not so great, but it was...an experience?
It’s been fabulous, reuniting with my own family, and discovering that my cats really do love me and have missed me. Cuddles have been constant. I feel the love.
I can’t help the sadness, though. For we are apart once more, and who knows how long for.
That said, a new chapter begins and the story will continue…
